There are no significant applications to detect unauthorized users but, one can access their router configuration system to limit their use. You’ll learn more about kicking unwanted users from your network as we go onwards.

Why Should You Kick People Off Your Wi-Fi?

If you are noticing that your internet speed is very slow and lagging a lot to stay stable then there are users or servers that are controlling your device’s connection. It is likely to happen since every user is connected to the Wi-fi server or through tethering Mobile Hotspot.

Another reason why your Wi-Fi network connected with unauthorized devices is the poor security measure in your personal network. This is why using data encryption is safer to remain inaccessible from intruders. Make sure you change your Wi-Fi password first as other unwanted users are automatically connected to your network once they log in.

Changing passwords is not complicated and this is why kicking people off your Wi-Fi is an easy process. When router signals are pushed to their limits, it slows down the measure of your internet. As a result, your Wi-Fi speed descends down from 80 Mbps to 25 Mbps.

Mostly router IP addresses are accessed by doing network encryption through other people. This is why changing your password isn’t effective all the time. For this reason, Wi-Fi routers are in need of high and advanced security settings. You have to sign in to your router configuration settings.  Now, a quick step for doing that,

  • Open your browser and access your Wi-Fi configuration settings, If you don’t remember your password, Ethernet cables are connected to the router directly which saves you the time to remember your password again.
  • You have to provide your name and password. If you forget your password you would have to reset your router by holding down the Reset button for 20-30 seconds which will occur as a factory reset setting for the settings to turn default.
  • When you are assigned to your router, locate the section that says ‘Wireless’.Locate the ‘Wireless Settings’ tab and enter.
  • Click on ‘Password’ from the options that pop up. Enter your new password and they will ask you to type your password again for final verification. Create strong passwords for such cases, weak passwords would be a waste to go through all those settings.
  • There are wireless encryptions for your Wi-Fi router’s security, Among WPA and WPA2, authorized users confirm WPA2 to be trusted for a more secure network.

So, someone else is using your Wi-Fi and gradually it seems that unwanted users keep on increasing to your connected network either it’s your friends or your next-door rogue neighbor. Here’s how you can kick someone off your Wi-Fi with a few sub-details.

Change Your User Password and the Name of Your Wi-Fi Router

Now we’ve already elaborated on how to change your router’s password but, what was left to acknowledge was that you might find yourself not being able to access your router config because of unauthorized users getting access to the gateway of your IP address. This is why you will be left with the only option, ‘reset into factory settings.

This is necessary because you won’t be able to log in if they have got your IP address, so the wise choice is to reset your Router and change your password afterward. The settings of your router turn to default and all verifications need new passwords to remain connected. Resetting your personal network and changing its passcode should keep uninvited users away from your Wi-Fi.

Kicking People Off Your Wi-Fi on Router

There are numerous users that are access into people’s Wi-Fi networks only by changing their identity and replacing it with another address by filtering it,  which is known as Address filtering. These users are not new to infiltrating your Network screen by creating a network without authorization.

Other people that can change their identity can even change their address which will eventually make them incognito. This is why there are ISP server managers that will help you kick off unwanted users from your own router.

Removing unwanted connections of unauthorized users are done by a few simple instructions that you can follow. Firstly, Log in to your Wi-Fi router configuration, A DHCP server is compulsory to be present in your network, so locate for ‘DHCP Settings’.

To disconnect with unrecognizable users, you will have to secure your IP address by passing through your DHCP server. You can communicate with your ISP provider and let them know about an unknown user infiltrating your Wi-Fi without authorization. The provider will then kick off any unwanted users that are connected to your Wi-Fi.

Use Native Mobile Applications- Windows, MAC, Android

For some reason, you cannot access your Wi-Fi router and it’s being either controlled or filtered by unknown users. There are other applications effective to kick people off your router and spread less malware.

Windows

Disconnecting your router by using your PC is possible by using NetCut. NetCut is a free application that enables admins of a specific network to switch off their internet connection. By selecting the address bar of an unwanted user, click on ‘Cut’ and you will see users getting disconnected.

MAC

MAC Address is installed on every network card which remains unchangeable. You can also use MacOs Netcut for removing users. You can select the MAC to address any unauthorized user and block their filtered address. Although, this will disconnect your personal network as well as the user accessing your internet. In the end, this helps kick out unwanted users from your router.

Android

There is a few exceptions for Android users, You can use NetCut for this as well, and also WiFikill is a similar one in this case too. Wi-Fikill helps you to keep a track of unrecognizable users connected to your router.  You would have to reboot your phone afterward in this case.

Enable MAC Filtering

A good option but, not a clever one. This problem can be solved if the user is an amateur, and does not care much about access into personal networks. This is not effective against any advanced level user because they use different initials to access into your Wi-Fi address and they work as a clone.

Operating Similar IP Address

In this case, two PCs cannot have the same IP address unless a similar router is connected to them. They share the same address once they are connected to another Wi-Fi router. You need the IP address of your router first and connect with the same network address by heading over to ‘Static IP address settings.

By this, The router gets disoriented because you will be using the exact IP address that the unauthorized user is connected to. For this, the user will be disconnected from your network and as a result, you are able to kick out unwanted people from spreading malware to your network address. Using WPA2 is much faster and reliable for keeping your Wi-Fi stable and safe.

Creating a Guest Network

This network is created to be a separate network accessed by any guest if you have guests staying at your house, office, etc. You can set up a guest network by providing a separate network connection rather than giving them the password to your personal network.

For this, you log in to your router and search for ‘Guest Network’. Now, set the SSID and password for the network to be used by any guest. Lastly, Click on ‘Enable Guest Network’. Some networks are often seen to be Public, so you won’t be needing passwords for this network.

Limiting Time For Separate Devices

This occurs when you are not sure how much time you are spending online and you want to limit your use at night because you have to use it a lot during the daytime. Many parents limit access to the internet for their children at night because they don’t want them to stay up late at night.

You can log in to your router entering your IP address and locate ‘Devices or Connected Devices. You can select network security or parental advisory to limit the use of internet access in your network. Once you’re done, configure settings and save.

Seek Help From Your ISP

Your internet service provider is the quickest way to confirm whether you have any unusual activities around your network or any unwanted user is sneaking into your Wi-fi source. Your internet provider will kick out any unrecognizable device or network that will be within the range of your personal network. You can also ask your ISP to improve your router to get higher and advanced security settings.

How to Protect Your Wi-Fi

In case if you do not want anyone to connect to your personal network, you can create a guest network, this makes it easier because your guests won’t be able to access your data information or privacy settings.

You can change your password settings and use encrypted data to protect your Wi-Fi settings from unwanted users, in this case, WPA2 encryption is a little complicated to break into. You can also disable SSID to show limited podcasts to your network presence.

Do not share your password or share files among unwanted users. You should have a habit of changing your passwords twice or thrice a month. You can also use VPN to connect to other websites that are not accessible through regular networks. Among VPN services, NordVPN is popular for having the best encryption made for exploring websites that are not open for all public networks.

It’s better to keep your network details to yourself and avoid getting in contact with unwanted users that know the drill to open up router IP addresses. Check up on your network and take a few speed tests.

And remember to close down all browser windows and user interfaces. If you see yourself not understanding the details, you can ask for help from your ISP or any Expert source. Stay safe and do not surround yourself around the internet for too long. And lastly, keep your information hidden from unknown users and scammers.
